On Farey Statistics for Quotients by Hecke Triangle Groups
Speaker: Diaaeldin Taha, University of Washington
Abstract: The Farey fractions are a famous enumeration of the rationals that permeate several fields of mathematics. In 2001, F. Boca, C. Cobeli, and A. Zaharescu introduced a dynamical system, now increasingly known as the BCZ system, that can be used to describe several statistical properties of the Farey fractions. In this talk, we extend the BCZ dynamical system to describe Farey-like statistics for the parabolic directions of the Hecke triangle groups.
