Marked length spectrum rigidity of negatively curved manifolds

Abstract: Marked length spectrum rigidity problem for a closed manifold asks to recover the Riemannian metric up to an isometry from the lengths of closed geodesics. For non-positively curved surfaces this problem was solved about 30 years ago by Croke and Otal (independently). I will review the history and the recent progress on the problem including work of Guillarmou-Lefeuvre in higher dimensions and my joint work with F. Rodriguez Hertz on the generalized marked length spectrum rigidity.
