Higher Rank Anosov Abelian Actions on Nilmanifolds

Abstract: By classic results of Franks and Manning, any Anosov diffeomorphism on a nilmanifold is Hölder conjugate to an affine one. This conjugation cannot be in general improved to a smooth, since one can easily perturb the differential structure of periodic orbits. Nevertheless, in the higher rank case this smoothness of the conjugation is indeed the case, as it was shown in the papers by Fisher-Kalinin-Spatzier and Rodriguez Hertz-Wang. In this talk we'll try to present the proofs in those papers (as well as giving the pertinent definitions and background).
