Counting $k$-Marked Durfee Symbols

Abstract: In a 2007 paper, Andrews defined $k$-marked Durfee symbols, and gave a number of combinatorial properties that are derived analytically. In this talk, a method to count the $k$-marked Durfee symbols that arise from an ordinary Durfee symbol will be given, and a related binomial coefficient identity will be proven. Also, a further open question will be described. Some other applications of the mentioned method will be considered as time allows.
