Computing Hermitian Forms
Speaker: Jeffrey Adams, University of Maryland
Abstract: The problem of the unitary dual is to compute the irreducible unitary representations of a real reductive Lie group. This amounts to computing the signature of the invariant Hermitian form on an irreducible representation. The Atlas of Lie Groups and Representations gives such an algorithm, and software to compute it. I will explain the key ingredients of the algorithm, in particular how Hermitian forms on a continuous family of representations vary.
