The hypersurface-deformation algebroid

Abstract: The symmetries and dynamics of space-time in general relativity follow from the algebroid of small deformations of spatial hypersurfaces. Quantum gravity modifies the algebroid in a characteristic way. It is not known how these modified algebroids could be integrated, but several intriguing effects, such as signature change at high density, have been derived.
