Graduate Student Conference Support

Graduate students who expect to complete their PhD in a given academic year may apply to the department for financial support to attend a conference during that year, if this attendance will assist in their search for academic employment.  Examples of such conferences would include the AMS-MAA Winter Joint Meeting or the SIAM Annual Meeting.

To apply for this support the student’s adviser should send a note to the Associate Head for Graduate Studies, detailing the conference to be attended and the reason the attendance will benefit the student’s future employment.  The note should also certify that the student is expected to graduate with the PhD in the current academic year.

Limited funds are available for this program and therefore the support provided may be partial.
